The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) informs the public that, based on the provisions of Law No. 06/L-014 on Critical Infrastructure, the facilities and assets of KEK are categorized as part of the critical infrastructure of the Republic of Kosovo. This infrastructure represents the foundation of electricity supply for all citizens and the country’s economy, making it an essential and irreplaceable product for everyday life and national development.
Given the importance of this infrastructure, domestic and international security institutions have paid special attention to its protection. In this regard, KEK has today received the official decision of KFOR, Ref. No. BKPR:0736/25, through which the KEK operational zone has been declared a prohibited area for flights (“No Flight Zone”), with specific emphasis on unmanned aerial systems (drones). This decision entered into force on 01.09.2025.
This step is a clear demonstration of the commitment of both local and international institutions to support the security system of the Kosovo’s energy infrastructure, as one of the main pillars of safety and security.

KEK J.S.C. expresses its deep appreciation for KFOR’s, role in contributing to the security of its facilities.
KEK J.S.C. also thanks all institutions contributing to the protection and security of the energy infrastructure and calls upon citizens to remain aware of its importance and to fully respect all legal and security measures in this regard.
